The Performing Years

The Performing Years
Since her return home late 1977, Flavia was immediately invited to give several recitals in Kuala Lumpur and in Penang and Ipoh, two towns on the West Coast of Malaysia, initially under the patronage of the Alliance Francaise and later under the British Council. She was also invited to do recordings for the classical music channel at Radio TV Malaysia.

Her solo recitals at the British Council hall, then situated at Bukit Aman in Kuala Lumpur, became regular annual events and preceded her piano masterclass seminars and workshops which were well attended and in great demand, notably in 1986 and 1988. There were also invitations to play with visiting soloists from Europe - violinists, cellists and singers, at various functions in Kuala Lumpur.

In 1993 under the sponsorship of Shell and MAS (Malaysia Airline System) she was invited to perform two solo concerts in Miri, Sarawak in East Malaysia.
Also in 1993, her audio-visual talks on music went public under the sponsorship of Polygram and the aid of a hi-fi company, Pro-Island.
Overseas concert performances continued with invitations to India and to Switzerland, where she represented Malaysia at the Concours Clara Haskil in Vevey, and three times to the Cultural Centre in Manila in the Philippines, one solo recital and twice playing concertos with orchestra.
